While working with campus ministry location data for colleges and universities in the United States, there are a few things to know! So we have an FAQ here to try and shed some light!
Do I need to let the campus know before I prayer walk?
Generally, you do not need to seek permission from the campus to prayer walk. If the campus has access restrictions then we suggest that you prayer walk around the outside of the campus. The vast majority of college campuses in the United States are open which means that you can walk on and off without the need to notify anyone. Public spaces, like the library and student activity center, are often available to all, while residential halls and academic buildings may be reserved for students and faculty. As you prayer walk, be mindful and respect the University’s rules about access to various academic and residential buildings.
What do I say if someone from the campus asks who I am?
You can politely identify yourself and let the person know that you are praying for the campus and its students, faculty, and staff. You can inquire with that person to discover if he or she has anything specific that you can pray for, either for themselves or for the campus.
What do I say if someone from the campus asks if I need help?
Most people on campus care deeply about that campus. You can respond by asking for help, explaining why you are there, offering to pray for that person, or politely declining their assistance.
Why do I see a campus as “no known gospel community” when it is a Christian College?
The EveryCampus data is provided by current partners and is updated at least annually. This data is based on what we know from someone or some organization on that campus. We desire to have the most accurate, current information. If you have better information, then please email info@everycampus.us
My campus is not listed here, how does EveryCampus determine which campuses are included
While campus location data is sourced from the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS), not all campuses are included. EveryCampus partners have vetted this information through local contacts and removed campuses that are highly specialized, low enrollment, online, or adult study centers. If you see an opportunity to improve our data, please email info@everycampus.us
Can I pray but not use the prayer guide?
Our prayer guide is meant to be a resource to help facilitate a prayer walk. You most certainly can, and we encourage you, to pray for the campus in the way you feel led. Whether or not you use the EveryCampus guide, we invite you to continue to be a part of the EveryCampus Community online.
How do I start an EveryCampus ministry?
EveryCampus is a coalition of ministries that provide resources for starting a ministry. You are encouraged to find a ministry that would be a good fit for either you or the campus. You can see a list of our ministry partners on our directory page.
How might I connect with ministries already on a campus to pray with them on campus?
EveryCampus.com has a search feature that allows you to identify which ministries have an active ministry on that campus. Additionally, the campus websites often have a page for student clubs or organizations. The campus website might also provide helpful information for you.
How can I stay connected to the campus or find a ministry once I’ve prayer walked?
Many of the EveryCampus partner ministries are able to connect and provide resources. You can review a list of our partners on our directory page. You can also join our EveryCampus Community to connect with others.
